Diving at the Tangalooma Wrecks

Moreton Island is located one hour by boat off the mainland and is a favourite weekend getaway for locals. This large sand island is made up of 95% National Park and then surrounded by beautiful turquoise waters. It's the perfect place to laze about on the beach, swim in the calm waters or go snorkeling and diving. One favourite dive site is the Tangalooma Wrecks in Moreton Bay which provides diving depths of up to 10metres with plenty of marine life in both the shallow and deep waters. These wrecks have been deliberately sunk on the land side of Moreton Island and acts as a great haven for divers. If you're interested in staying on the island take a look at some of the accommodation options.
