Brisbane Backpackers Accommodation

There are many backpacker resorts and hostels in Brisbane and the surrounding areas, with various types of accommodation choices including shared dorms, private rooms and more luxurious resort style backpackers.

Fraser Island is one of the most popular Brisbane backpacking destinations, with plenty of tours, camping and hostel options available on the island.

Backpacking is a fun and cheap way to explore any city and it's an especially great way for you to make friends with people from all over the world. Many of the hostels in the city are attached to pubs and offer great meal and drink prices for guests, as well as karaoke nights & fancy dress parties and can also arrange tours and transport.

Backpacking in Brisbane

Backpacker Tour on Fraser IslandBrisbane is often referred to as a 'big country town' which aptly describes the homely atmosphere it exudes to its international visitors. Staying in Brisbane is usually always pleasant with good weather conditions, minimal traffic and buildings that are constantly undergoing rennovations with downtown areas encouraging people to explore the city and enjoy themselves.

Getting around Brisbane is not too difficult at all with the various efficient transport infrastructure in place and it is definitely not a place that you would dread coming to, despite all the jokes (why wasn't Jesus born in Brisbane - God couldn't find three wise men or a virgin).

Inside many of the backpacker hostels are companies advertising tours and trips in addition to places offering free pick ups for guests. Brisbane isn't on many must-see lists of Australia, but it's a pretty, well laid-out city and it's definintely worth a look if you are travelling between the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

If you've never been to Brisbane, or Australia for that matter, and are thinking of doing so, it is no problem and is a 'non stress' affair. There is such a varied array of independent backpackers, so you don't have to belong to any organization or book ahead, although its a good idea to do so in peak travelling times like Summer.
