The Weekend To End Women's Cancer

Thousands of cancer survivors, their friends, family and other supporters will walk 60km through the beautiful suburbs of Brisbane, in the second annual Weekend to End Women’s Cancers benefiting QIMR Berghofer and Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital. Total funds raised and final participant numbers for this year’s event will be announced moments before The Weekend begins at the opening ceremonies in Brisbane on Saturday, 25th October.

The Brisbane Weekend is the largest walk for women’s cancers in Queensland having raised $3.5 million in 2013.

The Weekend To End Women’s Cancers invites all members of the community to attend official Weekend cheering stations to support participants as they walk through communities at locations and times below.

1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 Australian women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. Funds raised by The Weekend support women’s cancers research and clinical trials at QIMR Berghofer as well as treatment, care and prevention programs for all women’s cancers at RBWH in Brisbane.

DAY 1 – SATURDAY 25 OCTOBER

OPENING CEREMONIES: Teralba Park, Everton Parklands - Osborne Road, Everton Park

  • Opening Ceremony/Start: 7.00am

 

LUNCH: 8.45am – 12.15pm

  • Roma Street Parklands, Lakeside Precinct, Parkland Boulevard, Brisbane

 

OVERNIGHT CAMP: 10.00am – 3.00pm

  • Teralba Park, Everton Parklands - Osborne Road, Everton Park
  • Walkers will arrive to the campsite between the hours indicated above. At camp, they will enjoy a warm meal, hot showers, entertainment and a night under the stars. Live entertainment will also be provided for Walkers.

 

DAY 2 – SUNDAY 26 OCTOBER

 

BREAKFAST AND LAUNCH: 4.30am – 6.00am

  • Teralba Park, Everton Parklands, Osborne Road, Everton Park

 

LUNCH: 7.45am – 12.00pm

  • New Farm Park, Brunswick Street, New Farm

 

CLOSING CEREMONIES: 3.00pm

  • Teralba Park, Everton Parklands - Osborne Road, Everton Park
  • Walkers will be crossing the finish line between 11.00am-3.00pm
