The Dark Party

Audiences will laugh and squirm watching The Dirty Brothers perform a dreamscape of deranged delights.

Enter the world of The Dark Party: extreme visceral theatre and physical comedy at its best where a trio of melancholic, pathetic hobo clowns, who have recently taken Europe by storm, shake up the world of contemporary circus and “rise above the tattooed throng” at the Judith Wright Centre from 28 to 30 November.

Produced by The Dirty Brothers Sideshow and direct from triumphant seasons in France, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Belgium and London’s Royal National Theatre, The Dark Party is enjoying rave reviews as they smash the boundaries of traditional circus with sideshow stunts and dark visual poetry driven by a vast eclectic soundtrack. Not a word is spoken yet so much is said.

“if you like the idea of seeing grown men do ridiculous things to themselves in the most delightful of ways, then go along and be charmed by The Dirty Brothers Sideshow” – Australian Stage

These three lonely lost souls meet on an abandoned platform and embark upon a dark and mesmerising journey. Lost, disillusioned and mildly amused they stagger through a series of bizarre vignettes including a field of traps, an arctic blizzard and a tropical island where they discover real laughter and true sorrow on their journey through a surreal world in search of life’s Party.

Absurd, funny and highly entertaining this is the show Samuel Beckett would have written if he had run away with the circus.

Come see what the audiences of Europe are raving about. The Dark Party. It’s sideshow noir to rattle your cage.

“a suave sideshow by three men who will eat, step on or hang from their nipples just about anything” The Age

“very entertaining, go on, be brave and see it" ArtsHub
