Spanish High Tea and Spanish Film Screening

The Barracks Té Mañanero

Lace mantillas will be optional when The Barracks host their Spanish Té mañanero (morning tea) on Saturday August 18th at 11am followed by a special one-off screening of the multi-award winning Spanish film Chinese Take-Away (Un Cuento Chino).

Chinese Take-Away has been called a “Spanish Amélie
and was awarded the Argentinian Academy Award for Best Picture and the Goya Award for Best Latin American Film among others.

After its popularity at the Spanish Film Festival this year at Palace Centro, Queensland Events Manager of Palace Cinemas, Charley Greaves decided to bring Chinese Take-Away to Palace Barracks for
this special event.

“We decided to do one screening of Chinese
at Palace Barracks Cinema as it was incredibly popular at
this year’s Spanish Film Festival,” said Charley.

The upstairs of the Palace Barracks Cinema will be transformed into a Spanish fiesta with guests treated to high tea towers filled
with traditional Spanish delicacies and panoramic views of Brisbane city.

Upon arrival, all guests will be given Spanish hot chocolate before
being seated for the Spanish morning tea.

The té mañanero will include churros with chocolate
dipping sauce as well as traditional Spanish orange and almond cakes, handmade chocolates, citron tarts, and Spanish finger sandwiches.

After the morning tea, guests will experience a one-off
special screening of Chinese Take-Away. The heart-warming, quirky and engaging film is a thought-provoking look at the unpredictability of life.

to purchase tickets for $45 (plus booking fee). The
event will run from 11am – 2pm on Saturday 18th August.
