Queensland Small Towns: Photo Documentary Project
Occurs every week on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
The stories, characters and everyday lives of people in Queensland outback towns are captured in this unique photo-documentary project that reflects the changing face of rural queensland.
Discover the diverse stories of Queensland’s outback towns. View images that capture the interplay between communities, commerce and natural resources, set against the backdrop of striking scenery and harsh landscapes.
The project is a collaboration between three Brisbane universities — The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University. Images were taken by staff and students from photography and journalism faculties, as well as professional photographers including Russel Shakespeare, Adam Ferguson and Shehab Uddin.
See this exhibition on our walls before it becomes part of the permanent collection of the State Library of Queensland, enabling future generations to have a glimpse into the region’s history.
Inspired by The stories of those who work and live in mining towns in Queensland outback.
