Prestidigitation
Eclectic musicians Adam Simmons and Erik Griswold pool their collections of saxophones, flutes, toys, prepared piano, and found objects, in a kaleidoscopic exploration of colourful sound.
The vast of collection of master multi-instrumentalist Adam Simmons comprises Tenor, Soprano, Sopranino, Alto, and Baritone Saxophones; Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, and Shakuhachi! The eclectic Melbourne composer-improvisor performs frequently as a soloist and with his many groups, including Origami and The Adam Simmons Toy Band. Keyboardist Erik Griswold uses prepared piano, toy pianos, melodicas, miniature music boxes and objects to create "an enchanting world of miniature keyboards, wit, whimsy and unexpected beauty" (The Age). As co-director of Clocked Out (with Vanessa Tomlinson), he has toured his music around the world, to the U.S., China, Japan, Korea, and Europe, collaborating with creative musicians such as Margaret Leng Tan, Steven Schick, Richard Nunns, and many more. www.erikgriswold.org
