Of the Causes of Wonderful Things

When Esther Drury’s five nieces and nephews mysteriously disappear, she begins a search to find them that leads her underground, literally.

An intimate and intricate new solo work that explores what happens when five children disappear from a small town in the American south.

Immersed in a noir and atmospheric world the story weaves dark comedy with tones of Faulkner and the Southern Gothic. Witness the darkness that unfolds in this other-worldly, deeply human, visionary and darkly beautiful piece that examines the redemptive power of confronting darkness.

There is limited audience capacity, as the work contains miniature worlds and an intimate juxtaposition of scale and size. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

“This is intensely moving theatre, and for all the bleakness, beautiful…I left feeling stricken but radiant.” The Age

"...richly textured, deeply poetic...a pure performer's piece." Real Time

"The human condition can be spoken of and can be read about. But when you hear it, see it and if it unveils in front of you, haunting you, if it unsettles your being and if you begin to live with a dream narrative - if all of this is achieved on stage then it can only be magic...a master class in acting." Australian Stage
