LUMINOUS Lantern Parade & Concert
LUMINOUS Lantern
Parade – providing a dazzling welcome for new Queenslanders
Join more than 12,000 Queenslanders from
all walks of life to welcome new arrivals to the sunshine state with MDA’s LUMINOUS
Lantern Parade and concert at Southbank Parklands.
A free community event, the LUMINOUS Lantern Parade provides
a visual feast of mesmerising lanterns in the form of exotic and native animals,
celestial shapes and characters. The parade
commences in the Cultural Forecourt and winds its way through South Bank
Parklands.
Symbolic of the strong community support for new
arrivals in Queensland, the light from the lanterns provides a captivating display
before entering the Courier Mail Piazza for a free high-energy concert filled
with world music and dance.
MDA’s LUMINOUS Lantern Parade is proudly presented in
partnership with our welcome partners, TAFE Queensland, Dealer Solutions,
Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, Westpac, Anti-Discrimination
Commission Queensland, UNHCR Australia and LightnUp Inc.
