About Tony Walker
His ‘studios’ are the streets and landscapes of the world, en plein air, and ‘home’ studio in Brisbane and Noosa.
Tony painted from childhood, early inspiration being the spectacular timeless landscapes of the Carnarvon Ranges area in central inland Queensland. He continued with his painting during his early professional career in urban design before becoming an established artist exhibiting
Tony Walker’s paintings are interpretive and impressionist in their depiction of character and mood, at times verging towards a touch of the surrealist. He works mainly with watercolour and acrylic but also works with charcoal and inks.
“To me it is important to understand the character of the subject whether landscape or figurative – the spirit or truth behind the image.”
Tony Walker’s expressive painting is inspired by landscapes and cultures and the concept of art helping to bridge cultural gaps. He travels widely on art orientated trips, creating en-plein-air artwork as finished paintings and reference material.
