Inner West’s Forest Festival Family Fun Day

When:       Sunday, 2 October 2011 – 9am to 1pm

Bring the family down to Cliveden Park for the Forest Festival to join in the fun and celebrate the International Year of Forests with the Men Of The Trees, community waterway group the Cubberla-Witton Catchments Network and Queensland Urban Utilities.

The whole family will enjoy a day out in the park with FREE tree giveaways, sausage sizzles, tree planting, guided tours of Rainbow Forest, face painting, games, crafts and much more…

What better way to enjoy your community parks and start spring than to cuddle up to some local native animals with the always popular Geckoes Wildlife Presentations.

See some Creepy Crawlies at the interactive Bug Workshop and find-out everything you wanted to know about those little beasties living in your home garden and local bushland

Meet Woody the Weed from the Weedbusters program and hear the story of how Weedbusters Save The Day for our forests.

Play detective in the interactive story of the Brisbane River where the kids learn about their role in keeping Brisbane’s iconic Rivers and Creeks healthy and beautiful.

Since 1995 Rainbow Forest has been tirelessly tended too by local community groups. Once dominated by invasive weeds, such as Camphor Laurel and Chinese Elm, the forest has been transformed into a thriving pocket of greenery and a home to a chorus of brilliant local and migratory birds.

Rainbow Forest is recognised as part of an essential corridor of bushland stretching from the Brisbane River, via Mount Coot-tha to the D’Angular Range National Park. The Cubberla Creek Connect project aims to enhance these connections along the river for native plants, animals and the community to enjoy into the future.

Join in the fun at Cliveden Park and celebrate our beautiful and precious local creeks, parks and the environment while doing your bit to protect and enhance it for generations to come.
