GC2018 - Sporting Event or an International Business Opportunity?

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be held from 4 – 15 April 2018 with representation from 70 nations and territories including 6,600 athletes and officials, 3,000 media and a broadcast audience of 1.5 billion.

GC2018 presents a unique opportunity for business partnerships – it’s a chance to engage with diverse communities and businesses around the world that would otherwise require very targeted campaigns. This panel presentation will help you understand how partnering with GC2018 enhances business prospects, both in the lead up to The Games and into the future.

The Games will provide more than $200 million in new sporting and community infrastructure in the region, inject an estimated $2 billion into the Queensland economy and provide up to 30,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

Jupiters Hotel & Casino, the first official sponsor of GC2018, are investing in a new 6-star, 17 storey all-suite hotel tower in the lead up to The Games, a project that will provide ongoing jobs and a bricks and mortar legacy that will promote and attract visitors and investors from Australia and around the world. Legacy isn’t just about infrastructure, though, it’s about people and the community. KPMG, an official supporter of GC2018, will be working with the GC2018 Team to develop their skills and provide ongoing professional development opportunities within the local community. All of these activities will help to maintain the economic momentum initiated by The Games long after it’s over.

Joining us will be a panel of special guests:

• The Honourable Peter Beattie AC, Chairman, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation;
• Rowena Craze, Partner, KPMG; and
• Geoff Parmenter, Group Executive Marketing and Corporate Affairs, The Star Entertainment Group.
