Filmhouse presents Boogie Nights

Newly launched Brisbane based pop up cinema Filmhouse are back with their second screening. This time Filmhouse are popping up in West End on Saturday August 11 with the Paul Thomas Andersons classic Boogie Nights.

Boogie Nights tells the story of Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg), a well-endowed busboy growing up in San Francisco in 1977. He is discovered by porn director Jack Wagner (Burt Reynolds) who turns him into the adult sensation Dirt Diggler. Andersons second feature documents the rise and fall of Dirk from the late 70’s into the 80’s. The start studded cast includes Anderson regulars such as Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly and Philip Baker Halls. The garnered Oscar nominations for Reynolds, Moore started the careers of Wahlberg and Heather Graham who plays Rollergirl. It’s a fun, original and heartfelt film backed by a fantastic soundtrack.

Boogie Nights will screen at the Warehouse space behind the Rumpus Room in West End. The venue is home to the annual West End Festival and is the perfect location for the film. The night will feature disco tunes, bell bottoms, pornstaches and rollergirls.

The event is BYO. Bottles of wine or bottles or cans of beer must be sealed before entrance into the venue. Bottles of wine and beer can also be purchased from Rumpus Room.

Filmhouse is a new pop up cinema initiative created by Portia Farrow in partnership with projectionist Michael Brooks.
