Festival of Tibet

“In our struggle for freedom, truth is the only weapon we possess.” – HH the 14th Dalai Lama

“The function of freedom is to free someone else.” – Toni Morrison

Om Ma Ni Pad Mey Hum - Jewel in the Lotus

Brisbane’s fifth annual Festival of Tibet celebrates the Tibetan way of life, founded on the principles of compassion and non-violence, while addressing issues which continue to threaten the future of Tibet.

In an unprecedented highlight, Ven. Thupten Ngodrup from Nechung Monastery in Dharamsala offers a glimpse into the spirit world of Nechung, Tibet’s State Oracle and principal protector of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile.

Over five days a packed program presents workshops, forums and exhibitions while evening sessions include a concert series featuring talented world musicians and the Australian premiere of the new documentary film “Olo – The Boy from Tibet”.

Adults and children alike will be enthralled as an exquisite sand mandala slowly takes shape in the hands of mandala master Lama Khedup, culminating in the dissolution ceremony on the final day.

This enduring celebration of Tibetan culture continues to embrace ancient traditions, acknowledge the remarkable resilience of the Tibetan people and raise funds to support Tibetans in exile.

All proceeds go to the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamsala, India.

Proudly sponsored by Perfect Potion and supported by Brisbane Powerhouse, BEMAC, Australia Tibet Council, Chenrezig Institute, Dalai Lama in Australia Ltd, Tibet Information Office, The Tibet Effect and Tibetan Community Qld
