Eclectica 2 | Celebrating the Stockroom
Occurs every week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
The second installment of the Eclectica exhibition series features a colourful and graphic mélange of works by contemporary Australian artists including Minnie Pwerle, Priscilla Ganangarrpul Dhamarandji, Louise Mallarvie, Kudditji Kngwarreye, Kuwayi Nampitjinpa.
The Eclectica series invites Gallery friends and local collectors to assist with selection of works, including the well-travelled Paul and Helen Cooney, who have chosen artworks from the FireWorks Gallery stockroom for Eclectica 2.
With new perspectives on the works, many often hiding in the racks, this provides a refreshing approach to showcasing contemporary Indigenous and non-Indigenous art from all around the country.
FireWorks Gallery emerged in the early 1990s, largely from artistic networks spreading across Queensland in the Northern Territory. Since its inception, the gallery has continued to represent artists from urban, rural and remote areas, featuring artists from Papunya, Yuendumu, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane and Maningrida. The depth and diversity of the stockroom portrays the gallery’s commitment to blurring the boundaries between Indigenous and non-Indigenous art over the past twenty years.
Opening drinks for Eclectica 2 will be held on Saturday 30 April, 2- 4pm - Everyone is welcome.
Gallery Hours: Tue-Fri 10am-6pm, Sat 10am-4pm
