A romantic comedy, BEGINNING is also an intimate and revealing two-person play about trying to make a real connection later in life, with all of life’s baggage and online dating attempts.
Set in the aftermath of Laura's housewarming party at her new flat in London, Danny, having attended simply as the plus one of a friend, is the last remaining guest. Laura is 38, single, childless and with no immediate family; Danny is 42, divorced, living with his mother and has not seen his daughter for a number of years. Over a few more beverages and boogies, the pair try to navigate their vulnerabilities, overcome their fears and end their loneliness. Can they be brave, take a risk, and find the partnership they have been longing for?
Featuring Brisbane performers Crystal Arons (Laura) and Jesse Blachut (Danny), BEGINNING runs in real-time with no interval.
First performed in London at the National Theatre in 2017 to a sold-out season and rave reviews, BEGINNING then transferred to the West End.
