Australian Poetry Slam ’14 – Queensland heats

Occurs every week on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday

Are you Queensland’s next slam champion? The search is on for brave new voices to speak their mind at the Queensland heats of the Australian Poetry Slam ’14. Contestants have two minutes to own the stage, rock the mic and win over the audience with their original spoken word poetry. Judges from the audience rate each performance and two worthy wordsmiths will carry on to battle it out at the State Final, September 26 at State Library of Queensland.

If you’d like to sharpen your words before you hit the stage, come along to one of our free slam workshops held in each location before the heat.

All workshops and heats are free to attend and enter; however, due to limited capacity, you must book a ticket to guarantee your spot. For competitors, heat sign-up opens 30 minutes before the event start time.

*Please note times and locations vary, see event website for more details.
