A Night In The JOL: Exploring Local Memory
Did you know there are over 600 collecting organisations across the state of Queensland?
From small rural museums, libraries, archives and art galleries, to large city institutions — they’re all dedicated to collecting Queensland memory. Making these collections accessible and available in the digital world is one of the challenges we face in the 21st century.
Join Katie McConnel, Curator Old Government House and Ewen McPhee, Museum Development Officer for North Queensland, in conversation with Phil Brown, for a look at the distributed collection of Queensland’s memory.
Set against the backdrop of the John Oxley Library, filled with historical and contemporary resources that have shaped Queensland, this talk is part of ‘A night in the JOL’, a monthly series delving into Queensland’s rich and diverse history.
Free, bookings required.
