Brisbane G20 Leaders Summit 2014
G20: 15 & 16 November 2014
Brisbane is thrilled to be hosting the G20 summit in 2014 and is preparing to receive 20 world leaders, 5 non-G20 leaders, 7 heads of major international organisations and 7,000 delegates and media. This will put Brisbane at the centre of world events for the 5 days of the summit and showcase our thriving River City for the world to see.
What is the G20 Summit?
The G20 summit is a meeting of 20 countries along with representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to consult on international finance and economic policy.
The summits aim to coordinate policy between members to improve global economic stability, create more sustainable growth, and prevent future financial crises. It is the world’s premier forum for global economic decision making.
G20 List of Countries:
The 20 countries that make up the G20 represent almost 90 per cent of global GDP and nearly two thirds of the world’s population. They are:
Argentina | Australia | Brazil | Canada |
China | India | Indonesia | France |
Germany | Italy | Japan | Korea |
Mexico | Russia | Saudi Arabia | South Africa |
Turkey | United Kingdom | United States | European Union |
The 2015 G20 Summit will be held in Turkey.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre
The primary meeting of the summit, and many of the preliminary meetings, will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, which is ranked as the Number 1 convention centre in Australia. Its location on the Brisbane River in the unique urban and cultural entertainment precinct of South Bank Parklands is perfect for facilitating the large numbers of international visitors attending the event and will showcase the vibrant heart of Brisbane.
The proximity of Brisbane Airport was a factor in the decision to host the G20 in Brisbane as it is well positioned to handle the arrival and hotel transit of so many world leaders in a compressed time.
Business and labour forums will be held at venues across Brisbane in the lead up to and following the summit. These venues will be decided upon closer to 2014 but will most likely be within the Brisbane CBD, close to South Bank Parklands and the Brisbane Convention Centre.
Accommodation For G20 Brisbane 2014
The summit is going to be such a major event attracting far more than the 7,000 delegates and media that are directly involved; Brisbane accommodation is going to fill up fast!
