The Society is a volunteer, non-profit organisation that offers course in Taoist Tai Chi, a therapeutic, gentle form of exercise beneficial to people of all ages. Open House Saturday 29 January 1-2.30pm. Free demonstration and introduction, light refreshments will be served. All welcome!
Our volunteer, non-profit and charitable organisation offers instruction in Taoist Tai Chi arts of health, as developed by Master Moy Lin-shin. Master Moy synthesised the wisdom he learned during more than 50 years of training in meditation, chi kung, Tai Chi and other internal arts of health, into the practices taught by the Society and its sister organisations.
The Tai Chi developed by Master Moy Lin-shin is designed to promote health and well-being for people of all ages and in all health conditions. In Master Moy's hands, this art became a very special and effective form of holistic health training, one that can work on the physical, mental and spiritual dimensions of our being. Consisting of a gentle set of 108 movements, the Tai Chi set that we practice is distinguished at the physical level by a significant degree of turning and stretching in each of the movements, in order to exercise the whole physiology.
At the mental and spiritual level, these arts offer a method of "taming the heart" and developing an attitude of calm, compassion and reduced self-centeredness during practice and in daily life. This aspect is cultivated in particular through the International Taoist Tai Chi Society's volunteer ethos.
The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Australia Inc is a member of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society which is the largest non-profit Tai Chi organisation in the world.
