Paddington - Brisbane Tourist Guide

Hop in your car and visit one of Brisbane's best and oldest inner city suburbs, Paddington. Located in the inner west of Brisbane just 2km from the Brisbane CBD, it's just a short drive or a long stroll away. Five minutes drive and you're there - strolling along gorgeous leafy streets and admiring large classic Queenslander homes, often converted into boutiques and restaurants. It's truly one of Brisbane's favourite places to shop, eat, drink and stay.

The population is mainly comprised of young couples without children which makes the suburb a youthful, vibrant & forward moving place to visit. There's some gorgeous restaurants located on the busy strips in Paddington and you can also enjoy a laidback breakfast in the shade, a great coffee in a cafe & choose from a range of cuisines from Australian to Turkish. Shopping

Shelter, PaddingtonMost of the shopping in Paddington is concentrated around Latrobe Terrace and Given Terrace and you'll find a diverse ranging of boutique shops selling a range of clothing styles, unique homewares and wonderful antiques.

There's upscale designer fashion boutiques, local Brisbane designs and quirky clothing shops. It's a great place if you're into vintage and retro clothing as well with lots of op shopping at charity stores and vintage clothing boutiques.

There's also the famed Retro Metro on Latrobe Terrance who sell their retro wears from underneath their house in the garage.

Paddington Antique Centre

Paddington Antique CentreA great day out is to visit the Paddington Antique Centre which was established in the historic Plaza Theatre and his home to 45 specialist dealers. There is a fantastic and constantly changing array of antiques including jewellery, glassware, art works, toys, clothing and furniture. If it's possible to collect something it will be there.

The heritage listed Plaza Theatre is worth a visit as it not only has amazing antiques but it is also one of the only remaining Atmospheric Theatres in Australia. While the outside of the building may appear plain, the interior was decorated heavily and featured a dark blue painted ceiling with clouds hung to simulate being outdoors with a night sky overhead.
