Detective Inspector Marty Mickelson from the Queensland crime operations command said that overnight raids on 50 Brisbane propertys across the city have seriously impacted on the local distribution of heroin in the Brisbane metropolitan area.
Around 250 officers were involved in the dawn raids on the Brisbane and Logan areas in which heroin, cannabis, ice and $135, 000 were found and 15 people were charged.

There have been more storms forecast for south-east Queensland right up until Friday. Power has been restored to most of the 37, 000 homes that lost supply in last nights storms with Ergon crews still working to restore houses in the Darling Downs area.

Laing O’Rourke chosen to build Brisbane’s tallest tower

September 26, 2007 - smh.com.au reports that Laing O’Rourke, the UK’s largest privately owned construction firm, has been chosen to build Brisbane’s tallest tower.
APH Capital Partners announced last wednesday that Laing O’Rourke are there preferred design and construct contractor for the building.
The construct contract is said to be valued at more than $300 million.

Greyhound industry to feel impact of horse flu

The shutdown of Albion Park harness racing complex has forced the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to move its next two meetings to Ipswich. Danny Ryan, the Greyhound Racing Authority Stewards chairman is confident that the greyhounds will be able to race at Albion Park again next week.

Supermarket Evacuated after possible chemical leak

September 24, 2007 - abc.net.au reports that Emergency services along with Building and air conditioning technicians were called in to investigate amystery smell in a Coles Supermarket in inner Brisbane. Firefighters with breathing equipment have been testing air quality inside the store, so far tests have come back negative.
