Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious

Mount Nebo

The charming township of Mount Nebo is located 45 minutes out of Brisbane’s city centre and is a great day trip away. Mount Nebo sits 550 metres above sea level and lends the feeling of the town being inside the forest.

Close to Mount Nebo is the Brisbane Forest Park Headquarters where you can decide to take a 1.5km or 5km bushwalk. While you’re here visit the Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre where you can view platypus, wombats, rainforest birds, reptiles and marsupials – it’s a great way to get back to nature and wonderment of Australia’s wildlife.

Before you start your journey into the D’Aguilar Range fuel up at the Green Tree Frog Cafe which is open 7 days a week.

On your bushwalk you’ll find rocky waterholes, mountain streams, subtropical rainforest and amazing views out to Moreton Bay. The countryside is so diverse you won’t know which way to look.

Located close by is the Walkabout Creek Restaurant which is set amongst the D’Aguilar National Park and overlooks the Enoggera Reservoir. It’s a great place to enjoy a Sunday breakfast, lovely lunch with fantastic views or to celebrate a special occasion like a wedding.

Mount Glorious

If you keep heading through the township of Mount Nebo, via snaking mountain roads lined with rainforest and gum trees you’ll find yourself at the top of Mount Glorious. Mount Glorious is part of the D’Aguilar Range and sits at 680 metres above sea level. This position will give you beautiful views of the countryside whilst you enjoy some crisp mountain breezes. There’s a great bushwalk up here which is suitable for children and offers you the chance to stop off and have a barbeque picnic.

You can also take a walk amongst the rainforest to Green’s Falls which is a 4.3km return walk. If you’re not up for a trek than enjoy a long lunch at Mount Glorious Restaurant & Cafe. The restaurant was originally a dairy farm built in the 1930’s and was converted into a restaurant in the 1970s, patrons can enjoy beautiful views of Moreton and Stradbroke Island and it’s a stunning venue for a birthday or wedding. There is also a really quirky cafe, Elm Haus, which has a great German theme and is great for a burger or pie stop.
