Gauranga Full Moon Festival
Join us in a night of fun-filled, joyous festivities as we celebrate the birth of Sri Gauranga who began the glorious kirtan tradition that is now sweeping the globe.
Kirtan, the singing or chanting of sacred mantras, or Transcendental Sound, is an easy yet sublime method of yoga meditation that has been practiced since time immemorial. It is the recommended process for self-realization in the modern age and has the gradual effect of cleansing your heart and mind, helping you to awaken and cultivate your inherent wisdom and spiritual love.
Sri Gauranga appeared 500 years ago, just before sunset on a beautiful full moon night in Bengal, India. His main purpose was to spread kirtan all over the world as the method of self-realisation in this age of Kali, the age of quarrel, chaos and confusion.
Sri Gauranga changed the very fabric of Indian society by begging everyone to sing the divine names of theSupreme Person (kirtan) regardless of their caste, age, color, gender, or religious designation.
He did not come to start a new religion. He simply asked whoever he met to sing the sweet divine names of the Supreme Person, dance with abandon and enjoy the perfect happiness of spiritual love. He plundered the storehouse of love for the Supreme, tasted the sweetness himself and distributed it to everybody without discrimination.
Come and immerse yourself in the joyous singing, ecstatic dancing and spiritual love that kirtan brings to our lives. This celebration of the appearance of Sri Gauranga will be held on Sunday March 12th with lots of joyous, uplifting kirtan by world renowned musicians Pralad 'n the Chants, live Vedic story-telling, timeless bhajans, dancing and feasting.
