Brisbane Climbing
For a city not in the mountains, there sure are some great things to climb in Brisbane! Kangaroo Point is right in the heart of the city and is characterised by towering rhylotite cliff faces, not wholly naturally formed but enhanced by early mining work in the area. The cliffs offer excellent sites for rock climbing and abseilling for people of all experience levels, with many tour operators working in the area.
At the base of the cliff is a strip of parkland filled with BBQ and picnic areas, tables and chairs, public art sculptures and public facilities.
The Story Bridge is a huge cantilever bridge located nearby. It was built in 1940 and in 2005 adventure tour companies gained permission to start running bridge climbs.
