Brisbane Trains
Brisbane's creatively named 'CityTrain' network operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week as part of the Queensland Rail network. The network extends from the centre of Brisbane south to Beenleigh and Robina on the Gold Coast, north to Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe, Caboolture and Gympie, east to Cleveland and west to Ipswich and Rosewood.
There are 145 stations within the network and fares between them range from $2.20 to about $17, although naturally they sting you for more if you're coming or going to the airport and a fare from the Domestic terminal to Robina station on the Gold Coast is more than $25, despite being less than half the distance of the next most expensive fare).
For more information on CityTrain services, including maps, timetables and useless mission statements* written by bureacrats visit the CityTrain website.
*For the record, the CityRail customer charter is as follows:
"We are committed to providing you with: Clean and tidy environments, Punctual and reliable transport, Responsive and efficient customer service. We value the opportunity to understand our customers' needs and invite you to call us with your enquiries 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
